What Constitutes Family Violence?
In the eyes of the law family violence goes beyond physical violence and reaches beyond you and your spouse. For example if your spouse intimidates you, or indirectly threatens you by threatening physical violence on someone you care about, or threatens to damage something you care about they are guilty of family violence. Examples that constitute family violence may be damaging sentimental possessions or hurting your family pet. Other forms of family violence include: invasion of privacy, harassment or stalking, intentionally damaging a partners personal property and denying or restricting access to bank funds that are considered to be shared family assets or income. If you have suffered family violence, the law will hear and protect you.
